Celebrating our Community through Music and Dance!
Blue Bird, Swan Lake, Firebird and Magic! (Jr/Sr./Apprentice)
Original Choreography by Lisa Sundstrom, Heather Unruh, Lance Courtney

Each year students participate in two large, full-scale productions. In December, Artistic Director John Gardner’s full length production of The Nutcracker is presented at Portland Community College, Sylvania Campus and is considered an entertainment highlight for the community of the Portland Metropolitan area.

Each June all students age 3 through Adult participate in the Annual School Performance—an elaborate spring production. This includes classical ballet variations performed by the Senior Youth Company, ballet pieces, modern dances, tap and jazz dances, Flamenco, Irish dancing and a story ballet presented by our Junior Youth Ballet.

Pacific Festival Ballet Youth Companies

The highlight  of the student’s ballet training is to join the ranks of the PFB  Companies. Members are chosen for their talent, dedication and passion to the art of classical ballet.

Youth Company-Children's Division  (Ages 8 and older)

Children in the Youth Ballet Company attend extra rehearsals in order to learn and perform a story ballet. This ballet is then performed at the Annual School Performance. There are other opportunities to perform at parks or at school assemblies. The story ballets are based on familiar stories such as Hansel and Gretel, The Wizard of Oz to name a few. Audition is required, but no child is turned away.

PFB Junior Company (Ages 12 and older)

The Junior Ballet is for intermediate/advanced dancers who are ready to work on challenging group works and to begin learning classical ballet repertoire. The Junior Company learns how to move as a corps de ballet and explores the challenges of classical ballet variations. They perform at the Annual School Performance and attend Regional Dance America. Audition required.

PFB Senior Company (Ages 14 and older)

The Senior Company is for dancers who have reached the advanced level and have been en pointe for at least three years. The Senior Company  learns and performs classical ballet such as Paquita, The Sleeping Beauty and Coppelia.  Rigorous rehearsals and demanding choreography present the best challenge for a ballet dancer. There are many performing opportunities for the Senior  Company including participation in Regional Dance America and a featured spot in the Annual School Performance.  Audition required.
